Submitting your registration form and payment and clicking the acknowledgment button in the registration form constitutes an agreement on your part that you accept and understand the following Terms and Conditions for the Atlantic Basin Conference on Chemistry 2026 (hereinafter “ABCChem Event”) as set forth by the American Chemical Society (“ACS”).
As used herein, “ABCChem” or “Organizing Societies” refers to all those chemical/chemistry organizations involved in the planning and organizing of ABCChem Event (inclusive of their management committee members, technical committee members, volunteers, and staff ).
For purposes of registering for ABCChem 2026, ACS acts solely as a facilitator, on behalf of Organizing Societies, to oversee the registration of attendees.
Where these Terms and Conditions confer any right, benefit, protection, waiver, release, indemnification, or limitation of liability upon the Organizing Societies and/or ABCChem, such provision shall be deemed to include and extend to each of the Organizing Societies, including ACS, and their respective officers, directors, employees, affiliates, agents, and contractors.
1. Disclaimer and Waiver
A. As a condition of your participation in this event, you hereby waive any claim you may have against the Organizing Societies, its sponsoring societies, its officers, directors, employees, or agents and affiliates, and the planning committee’s contractors and subcontractors, and each of their respective parent companies, or against the presenters or speakers at ABCChem Event, for reliance on any information presented, and hereby release the Organizing Societies from and against any and all liability for damage or injury that may arise from your participation or attendance at the event. You further understand and agree that all property rights in the material presented, including common-law copyright, are expressly reserved to the presenter, speaker, or to the respective Organizing Societies. This Disclaimer and Waiver is specifically binding upon you, your heirs and assigns and is knowingly given.
B. The Organizing Societies intend to take photographs, videos and audio recordings, live streams, and conduct interviews at ABCChem Event activities for use in ABCChem news and promotional materials, in print, electronic, and other media, including the ABCChem website. By participating in this event, you grant the Organizing Societies a perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable, worldwide right to use your image, photographs, voice, and/or likeness of you, without limitation, in its promotional materials and publicity efforts without compensation. All content and/or media captured becomes the property of the Organizing Societies and may be displayed, distributed, or used by the Organizing Societies for any purpose. You waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, webcasting, televising, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose of sponsoring, exhibiting, broadcasting, webcasting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee of admission or sponsorship is charged.
C. Photography, Live Streaming, and Videotaping Policy
No Photography: Attendees are prohibited from taking photographs during any sessions, workshops, events, or other activities at the event without prior written permission from the presenter(s) and the ABCChem Organizing Societies.
No Live Streaming or Videotaping: Attendees are not allowed to live stream or record video footage of any sessions, workshops, or events at the Meeting without prior written permission from the presenter(s) and the ABCChem Organizing Societies.
Enforcement: Event staff will monitor and enforce compliance with this policy. At Organizing Societies’ sole discretion, attendees found violating this policy may be asked to delete the unauthorized content and may face removal from the event without a refund.
Exceptions: Organizing Societies’ approved photographers and videographers, as well as media personnel with proper credentials, are exempt from this policy.
D. Sharing of Information
By registering for ABCChem Event, you understand that you are providing consent to:
You may opt out of communications from exhibitors or other ABCChem offerings at any time. However, you will continue to receive essential information related to the ABCChem Event. To modify your consent for exhibitor or other communications, you can email ABCChemMail@acs.org .
E. Badge Scanning by Exhibitors, Sponsors, and Third Parties
By allowing your badge to be scanned by an exhibitor, sponsor, or other third party at the event, you are providing them with access to your contact information. As such, you are providing the consent for third parties to contact you and are opting in to receive communications from that exhibitor or sponsor. In doing so you may be contacted in the future by them for follow-up, marketing, or business-related purposes pertaining to their products or services. You understand that you are subject to their respective communications and privacy policies and must opt-out of such contact by contacting them directly. Badges must be scanned before any details are shared.
If you do not wish to share your information, you may decline to have your badge scanned.
2. General Terms & Conditions
A. To make the event experience enjoyable for all attendees you agree to comply with the ACS Volunteer and Participant Code of Conduct which is incorporated into these Terms and Conditions. You further agree to comply with all applicable laws, and all rules and policies of the event venues. You are solely responsible for your conduct and any consequences and may be immediately removed if you violate any applicable laws, venue rules, or ABCChem Event policies without refund.
B. ABCChem Privacy Policy
Your data privacy and security are important. When you register for the event, you acknowledge, consent, and agree that ACS, as the registration facilitator, will collect, process, and manage your information in the United States as necessary to complete your registration and for you to attend ABCChem Event.
ACS, as the registration facilitator, may disclose your personal information to the Organizing Societies and to third party service providers engaged to assist with the event (e.g., mobile application provider, platform provider, registration and payment processing services, general service contractor). By registering, you expressly consent to ACS sharing and transferring your information to and with Organizing Societies and third-party services, which may be located in various countries, as may be necessary for the administration and operation of ABCChem Event. You acknowledge and agree that the treatment of such information is further subject to the privacy policies of the Organizing Societies and any third parties with whom your information is shared. Neither ACS nor any of the Organizing Societies shall be liable for the data handling practices of any such third party nor shall they be liable for how third parties use of your information once shared through badge scanning or otherwise made available to third parties in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. By registering for ABCChem Event, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to the ACS Privacy Policy. ABCChem does not sell email lists of meeting registrants. Distribution or other use of the list without ABCChem’s express authorization is strictly prohibited. Third party “pirate” companies reach out to delegates and exhibitors offering to sell these lists often with the primary objective of obtaining credit card information. ABCChem is aware that these solicitations occur but has no affiliation with these companies. Please email the Meetings Team with any questions or concerns.
Privacy Policy: Registration Data
• In order to verify your society membership and registration rate, if you register as a member, ABCChem will share your First Name, Surname, and Email Address with the organization with which you claim to be a member.
• In the registration form, by selecting “I agree to share this information for marketing of future ABCChem events” you agree to share your First Name, Surname, Company/Institution/Agency, Title, Country, and Email Address with the ABCChem for use to market upcoming ABCChem events.

C. Payment
Full payment is due at the time of registration. ACS, as the registration facilitator, collects and processes all registration payments on behalf of ABCChem. The registration data is subject to audit. In case of error or incorrect self-selection of member types/pricing, ACS reserves the right to correct the error and charge the appropriate fees. If there is a discrepancy, your registration will be updated accordingly. Should you owe any additional registration fees due to the audit, you will be notified via email, and within two (2) business days, the credit card that is on file will be charged the difference; by submitting your registration, you hereby authorize such charges. All registration fees are non-refundable except as expressly provided in the Registration Cancellation/Refund Policy set forth herein. Please note that your registration will not be complete until your payment is received, and you will not be able to receive your badge credentials and convention materials.
ACS reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel unpaid registrations within thirty (30) days of registration or no later than twenty (20) days prior to ABCChem 2026, depending on the date of registration. ABCChem and its Organizing Societies shall not have any liability to you arising from the cancellation of an unpaid registration pursuant to this provision.
D. Presenter Registration, Payment and Withdrawals
All presenters, whether invited, oral, or poster, must register and pay in order to present at ABCChem Event. No one will be permitted to present without registering. If you are a presenter, cancelling your registration will not automatically cancel your presentation or vice versa. To request that your abstract be withdrawn from the meeting, please email your request to maps@acs.org. Please include your control ID and abstract title.
If the presenting author does not register for the meeting by September 25, 2026 and make their presentation based on this abstract, the abstract will be considered withdrawn and removed from the meeting program and technical programming archive.
If the presenting author will be unable to make their presentation at the assigned time and location, it is the author’s responsibility to submit a withdrawal prior to the start of the meeting.
E. Meeting Badges
ABCChem will issue you an event badge. Each attendee’s badge includes a unique QR code containing personal information provided during registration. This may include, but is not limited to:
F. Badge Pick-up Policy
All ABCChem Event attendees will need to individually pick up their registration credentials and tickets on-site at the badge pick up areas during on-site registration hours. Event attendees will be asked to show a valid photo ID to verify their registration to be issued their registration badge.
Your badge is your official form of identification during the event and is required for access to event activities. You are responsible for securing your badge at all times.
To protect your personal information, ABCChem strongly advises attendees to be mindful of wearing their conference badge in public or non-event venues (e.g., restaurants, hotels, transportation). The QR code and personal details may be accessible to others and could potentially be misused outside of the controlled event environment. Please remove or conceal your badge when outside official event areas.
Badge sharing, splitting, or reprints made outside of the official ABCChem registration system are strictly prohibited. Any attendee found in violation of this policy will be removed from the event, and all badges will be revoked. The following fees will be charged for badge reprints: $25 for a second reprint, $50 for a third reprint, and $100 for any additional reprints. Please verify your badge preview prior to arriving onsite to expedite the process and to avoid reprint fees.

Members residing in countries with emerging economies as defined by the World Bank are eligible to receive special event registration discounts.
Category I – 75% discount on registration.
Category II – 66% discount on registration.
To receive this special pricing please email ABCCHem registration at ABCChemMail@acs.org. Registrants from countries defined as “Upper-Income” or “Upper-Middle-Income” are not eligible for any special discounts.
3. Child Policy
Attendees are solely responsible for the care and management of their children at all ABCChem Event venues. Parents or guardians must ensure their children are supervised at all times and that their attendance does not disrupt the Event or interrupt the experience for other event attendees. ABCChem and its Organizing Societies will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost, or other action to any child brought to the event or any related event activities.

4. Alcohol and Other Beverages
Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beer, and soft drinks may be offered during the event. Alcoholic beverages will be distributed per the laws and regulations of the location where the event is being held and may only be allowed in specific areas in the event venues.
5. Smoke-Free Policy
For the health and comfort of all attendees, smoking is not permitted at any event venues. Attendees should adhere to any signage preventing or authorizing smoking in certain locations.
6. Weapons
Weapons are not permitted at ABCChem Events, notwithstanding local laws that may permit them, without the express permission of ABCChem’s organizers.
7. Postponement or Cancellation
ABCChem and its Organizing Societies reserve the exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, pandemic or epidemic, inclement weather, or other “acts of God.” If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and ABCChem has the right to transfer registration fees to the rescheduled event date. ABCChem will not be responsible for reimbursement of any participant’s expenses related to an event’s cancellation or postponement. If a canceled event cannot be rescheduled, ABCChem has the right to determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees after cancellation due to consideration of circumstances and expenditures. Under no circumstances shall ABCChem or its Organizing Societies be liable for any travel expenses, hotel or lodging costs, airfare, transportation, lost wages, childcare expenses, or any other costs or damages incurred by attendees in connection with any postponement, modification, or cancellation of the event.
8. Compliance with Law
You acknowledge that ACS, and the Organizing Societies are required to comply with applicable sanctions, export control, and trade compliance laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which they operate, including but not limited to those of the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. By registering for this event, you certify that (1) neither you nor any entity with which you are employed or affiliated is designated on any restricted or sanctioned party list maintained by any applicable governmental authority, or is 50% or more owned, directly or indirectly, by any such designated person or entity; (2) you are not acting for or on behalf of any government that is the target of sanctions under any applicable sanctions regime; and (3) your registration and participation are not otherwise prohibited under any applicable sanctions, export control, or trade compliance laws. ABCChem reserves the right to cancel the registration of any attendee, without refund, upon determining, in their sole discretion, that doing so may be required or advisable to ensure compliance with any applicable sanctions, export control, or trade compliance laws and regulations. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ABCChem from any costs, penalties, fines, or liabilities arising from any breach of your certifications under this section.
9. Intellectual Property and Permissions
Speakers or companies that submit artwork, upload, or link any material (including but not limited to images, text, documents, and/or video files) for the event are solely responsible for the content of such material and for gaining required permissions under copyright, trademark, trade secret or other applicable law for the use of such material. By submitting any such material, the submitting speaker or company represents and agrees that it has obtained the necessary permissions referenced above.
All intellectual property rights in and to ABCChem Event, the ABCChem content, and all materials distributed at or in connection with ABCChem are owned by ACS or the Organizing Societies, the sponsors or speakers presenting at the Meeting. You may not use or reproduce or allow anyone to use or reproduce any trademarks or other trade names appearing at ABCChem Event, in any ABCChem content or in any materials distributed at or in connection with ABCChem for any reason without the prior written permission of ABCChem and its Organizing Societies.
For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these terms and conditions shall be deemed to vest in you any legal or beneficial right in or to any trademarks or other intellectual property rights owned or used under license by an Organizing Societies, its sponsors and speakers; nor do these terms and conditions grant to you any right or license to any other intellectual property rights of ABCChem and its Organizing Societies, all of which shall at all times remain the exclusive property of ABCChem and its Organizing Societies.
10. Travel and Hotel Reservations
Attendees are responsible for securing their own travel and hotel accommodations and making payment for such arrangements. Cancellation of hotel reservations and/or any travel expenses incurred are the sole responsibility of each individual attendee.
11. Errors and Omissions
ABCChem and its Organizing Societies makes no representations as to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, suitability, or validity of any information presented by attendees at the event and will not be liable for any errors, omissions, or delays in this information for any losses, injuries, or damages arising from its display or use. Schedules, speakers, and program content are subject to change. The event is provided on an “as-is” basis. The views, opinions, and positions expressed by the attendees at the event are theirs alone and do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions, or positions of ABCChem, its Organizing Societies or any employee thereof. ABCChem and its Organizing Society does not endorse, and expressly disclaims all liability relating to, any of the products or services provided by attendees.
12. Amendment to Disclaimer and Waiver, Policies, and Terms and Conditions
ABCChem and its Organizing Societies may, in its sole discretion and without notice, make changes, amendments, or additions to this Disclaimer and Waiver, Policies, and Terms and Conditions, as applicable. Any such changes shall be binding on individuals, including but not limited to attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors.
13. Acceptance and Acknowledgement
By registering for and attending the Event, I hereby agree that I have read the above terms and conditions and accept the terms stated herein. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ABCChem and its Organizing Societies from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, settlements, fines, penalties, costs or debts and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs of investigation) resulting from my attendance at, or participation in, the event, including the conduct of any person accompanying me or under my supervision, regardless of any negligence or alleged negligence on the part of ABCChem or Organizing Societies. This obligation survives the conclusion, termination, cancellation, or expiration of the event and these Terms and Conditions.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal and state courts located in the District of Columbia for any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms and conditions or your attendance at ABCChem Event, and you irrevocably waive any objection to such venue or to the exercise of personal jurisdiction by such courts. In any dispute arising under these terms and conditions, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover its reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs from the non-prevailing party.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ABCCHEM’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OR YOUR ATTENDANCE AT ABCCHEM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE REGISTRATION FEES ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU FOR THE EVENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL ABCCHEM BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF REVENUE, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF BUSINESS, OR LOSS OF OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OR YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH LIABILITY IS BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, AND EVEN IF ABCCHEM HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS ARE AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF THE BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN ABCCHEM AND YOU, WITHOUT WHICH ABCCHEM WOULD NOT HAVE PERMITTED YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT.
16. Severability
If any provision of these terms and conditions is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, such provision shall be severed from the remaining terms and conditions, which shall continue in full force and effect. Any invalid or unenforceable provision shall be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, preserving to the greatest extent possible the original intent of the parties and the protections afforded to ABCChem and its Organizing Societies hereunder.
