U.S., Canadian, and Australian citizens now need a visa to enter Brazil, which can be obtained conveniently online through the Brazilian e-Visa system.
If you need to apply for a temporary non-immigrant visa to attend the conference, you are advised to apply for your visa as soon as travel to Brazil is contemplated, and no later than 3-4 months in advance.
International participants should start the visa process during August 2026 or earlier. If your country of residence is different from your country of citizenship or birth, it is recommended to start the application process at least 6 months in advance of the conference. The ABCChem 2026 planning support team cannot intervene with the Brazilian government on behalf of any meeting participant.
As of January 10, 2024, passport holders from Australia, Canada, and the United States will require an e-Visa to enter Brazil. The digital e-Visa system eliminates the need to visit a consulate in-person for most travelers.
The e-Visa is suitable for travelers visiting Brazil for tourism, leisure, or business meetings. If your trip involves work, study, or paid activities, you must apply for a different visa type through a Brazilian consulate.
If you have a valid physical visa on your passport for the purpose of your visit, you do not need to apply for a new visa.
