Conference Policies

Meeting Attendee Conduct Policy – ABCChem is utilizing the meeting conduct policy from the American Chemical Society (ACS). ACS convenes events and meetings that are welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative. ACS’ Meeting Attendee Conduct Policy applies to all ACS-sponsored events, as well as affiliated events connected with an ACS meeting or event, whether in public or private facilities.

Is vaccination against COVID-19 required to attend? Effective 29 November 2022, vaccination for COVID-19 is not required to attend ABCChem 2022. It is recommended that you wear a mask for the duration of the conference. Visit the World Health Organization website for more advice to protect yourself and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

My colleague would like to record my presentation for archiving purposes. Is this allowable? No Image Capturing or Recording. The capturing of images, sounds or stream, downloading, or rebroadcasting of technical session (oral or poster) speakers or presentations is strictly prohibited.

Ground Transportation from Airport to Hotel

Ground transportation may be arranged by contacting the conference hotel at hotel.marrakech.concierge@movenpick.com. Please provide your flight information and type of vehicle Mercedes Van – MAD380 ($35); Mercedes Classe E –  MAD380 ($35); Range Rover Sport – MAD637 ($59.49); Range Rover Vogue – MAD637 ($59.49). 

WiFi

Will internet be provided for attendees? All attendees will have access to wireless internet throughout the conference.

Presenter Questions

What services and equipment are provided for oral presenters? Oral presenters will be permitted to enter session rooms 30 minutes prior to the session start time. Staff will be on-site to assist with preparing for your presentation. A laptop will be provided at the podium to load and share your slides using a USB drive. Presenters should not bring any other equipment. ABCChem 2022-branded Powerpoint slides are available for use (download here).

When can I set up my poster for presentation? Presenters will be allowed to hang their posters between 8:00 and 10:00 on their scheduled session date. Poster numbers will be placed in the upper corner of each poster board. *Presenters must remove posters at the conclusion of the poster session.

Do you have a local printer to print posters? 11 PROD is a local production and print company in Marrakech that offers print and delivery services for poster presenters for a fee. Please email 11 PROD at 11prodmaroc@gmail.com with the PDF file and size of the poster to be printed. 11 PROD staff will reply with an invoice for payment in Moroccan currency upon delivery of the printed poster.

What are the allowable dimensions for poster presentations? The dimensions of the poster board is 1 meter wide by 2.5 meters high. All presentations must be confined to the dimensions of the poster board. Computer display equipment, sound or projection equipment, freestanding or three-dimensional displays, demonstrations/experiments, or tables for handout materials are not permitted in the poster session.

Will virtual sessions be offered?  ABCChem will only be offered in-person in Morocco (with no virtual attendees or presenters).

Registration

When will registration open? Participants will be able to register online beginning in June 2022.  

What are the hours for onsite registration? Onsite registration hours are Tuesday, 13 December from 12:00 – 18:00 and Wednesday, 14 December – Friday, 16 December from 7:00 – 18:00.

What are the registration Fees?  Visit the registration page to see the list of registration fees.  

What forms of payment are taken for registration?  Accepted forms of payment are credit card and bank transfer. Registration is not confirmed until payment is received.

May I have a discount on the registration fee? ABCChem 2022 is pleased to offer Member and Student registration discounts. No further discounts are available on registration or housing.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?
Cancellations received by 1 December 2022 are entitled to a full refund, minus a USD 20 administrative fee. All refunds are issued via the same method used for payment. Cancellations after 1 December 2022 will not be refunded. If a registrant is no longer able to attend, they can have a colleague replace them and staff can update the registration record. All cancellation and replacement requests must be received in writing to the conference planning staff at abcchemmail@acs.org.  

Visa

I am having difficulties securing a visa to attend ABCChem. Can you assist? Abstract presenters may download a visa invitation letter from the meeting abstract system to present to your local jurisdiction to secure a visa. Each participant is responsible for securing their own visas with the relevant agencies/authorities in your home country. Please contact abcchemmail@acs.org if you would like an invitation letter for a guest who is not a presenter.

Abstract Submission

When did abstract submission for ABCChem open?  Abstract submission opened on 24 January 2022. 

When was the deadline to submit abstracts for ABCChem? Abstract submission was to close 4 April 2022 but was extended to 18 April 2022. 

Will the deadline to submit abstracts be extended? Yes, the deadline was extended to 18 April 2022.

Symposia Organizers  

What is my responsibility as a symposium organizer? Overall, it is your responsibility as organizer to review and arrange abstracts submitted to your assigned topic area into the sessions provided in the abstract submission site, and to make sure your sessions are finalized by the established deadline. 

Will organizers receive training on how to perform my role as an organizer? Prior to the abstract submission deadline, organizers will receive an on-demand training course that provides an overview of your role and demonstrates essential skills needed to succeed in this role. 

Can authors submit abstracts to my topic area after the deadline? As symposium organizer, you will have access to submit late abstracts on behalf of authors until the announced symposium organizer deadline.
